About Me
Art Practice
Re-imagined Characters & A Search for Self-identity
Rooted in personal experience, my practice explores the construct of self-concept, how it forms, evolves, and influences the relationship we hold with ourselves. Through my work, I seek to uncover the layers of identity shaped by memory, perception, and emotion, striving to reconnect with my core self. This journey of self-exploration is both deeply personal and universally resonant, inviting viewers to reflect on their own sense of self. My aim is not only to deepen my understanding of who I am but also to create spaces where others pursuing similar paths of introspection might find connection, resonance, and clarity.
Kija CM
Visual Artist & Independent Curator
The mind behind Some Kind of Visual is Tanzania's Kija CM. A visual artist with a passion for creating meaningful and abstract works inspired by her early upbringing. Though she pursued formal education and a decade long career in accounting, her passion for visual expression never ceased and thus embarked on her art career where she has developed a broad skillset and understanding of various art techniques.
She completed and obtained certificates from the Nafasi Art Space Academy in Visual Arts (2022) and Curatorial & Arts Management (2025). Kija has participated in several group exhibitions under Nafasi Art Space from 2022 to 2024 and Koko’Ten Studio Gallery in 2023.
Curatorial Work
Custom Icon Design
My curatorial practice centers on questions of identity and lived experiences, with particular attention to how memory, absence, and vulnerability shape self-representation. Working through a temporal and intrapersonal framework, I develop exhibitions as intimate, time-bound encounters that foreground interior states and subtle forms of narration. I primarily collaborate with photographers, painters, and filmmakers whose practices engage these concerns through nuanced, affective approaches.
